MR.NEWMAN
Fine Arts Director
Mallik Newman is in his sixth year at Booker T Washington High School, serving as the band and orchestra director. He is a product of Carlisle High School in Carlisle Pennsylvania where he received the John Phillip Sousa Award and Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music Education from Prairie View A&M University. While there he was the head trumpet section leader of the Marching Storm and received awards such as the Dr. William McQueen, III Brass Award and the Most Extraordinary Section Leader award. He has helped re-establish the orchestra and band programs at Booker T Washington and believes in helping students become better versions of themselves through music.
